Having served and been injured serving in the IDF, Avi went on to found LIAD Insurance Ba'am, in 1975 which is a leader in insurance in Israel. When diagnosed with laryngeal cancer in 2005, Avi began conventional medical treatment and simultaneously added visual imagery, and positive thinking to his armament of care. He describes these complementary approaches as a key element in his ability to continue with his work and social life throughout the course of his radiation and chemotherapy. From the start, Avi realized that as a cancer survivor he had more to give, and has since been an indomitable force in the Tishkofet Board of Directors. His commitment to supporting patients and family members facing illness is seen in his inability to say "no" whenever there is a need and to finding effective solutions to any challenge along the way. Avi is a person of a big heart, amazing organizational talent and intense caring. He exemplifies a person who faces the threat of illness with honesty, hope and optimism with which he exudes and infects everyone he meets.
